# Charts | Seven Figures on Global AI Startup Funding in 2024

_Unique Research · Company / Funding charts · July 25, 2024_

After two years of slower venture growth, large rounds and AI capital injections gave Q2 a strong push — a sign markets are again backing high-potential sectors. Active VCs that paused after the 2021 peak are gradually returning. Challenges remain: fundraising thresholds stay high for early and growth startups alike, so plans and positioning must be sharper.

Below is a seven-chart snapshot of global AI enterprise funding in 2024. _\[Charts — see CN images\]_

## Global funding peaked in 2024 Q2

Global fundraising heated up in Q2 2024: total volume hit **$79B**, a five-quarter high. Growth was driven by rounds of **$100M+** — confidence in later-stage growth companies and intense competition for AI.

## AI drove the rebound

Even as investors worry about AI revenue versus huge capex, AI funding still grew: volume **doubled to $24B**, an 18-month high. Mega-rounds at the **$1B+** level from **xAI, CoreWeave, Wayve, Scale AI, and Xaira Therapeutics** led the move.

## Top firms moved first after seed

Elite investors accelerated post-seed annual pace. **Khosla Ventures, Accel, and Andreessen Horowitz** led in post-seed deal count. Growth and PE funds, by contrast, participated far less than in 2022.

## North America remains the AI startup hub

U.S. and Canadian startups posted their strongest quarter since last year: **$45.3B** raised, up more than one-third YoY (Crunchbase). AI funding tracked the global pattern — doubled QoQ and YoY to **$16.8B**.

## Asia AI funding at a multi-year low

Asia had its weakest startup funding quarter since 2015: **$14.6B** total, **−32% YoY**. AI startups took a relatively small share — only **$2.5B**, under 20% of the region’s quarterly total, versus North America’s $16.8B.

## Europe late-stage strength

European startups raised **$16B** in Q2 — first time in a decade ahead of Asia (Crunchbase), powered by late-stage volume, with AI names taking a meaningful share.

## Latin America volatility

South and Central American startups raised **$791M**, below the Q2 2021 peak. Brazil and Mexico led; fintech remained the regional investment theme.

## Notes

Data from Crunchbase, publicly reported only; cutoff **July 7, 2024**. Early VC figures (especially seed) often revise up after quarter/year end. Amounts in USD unless noted; FX converted at spot on the event date (historical spot if recorded later).
