PixelBloom (AiPPT.com) Closes Beijing AI Industry Fund B2 — Building a Global AI Office Super Factory

Unique Research · Company · December 27, 2024

Global AI-office player PixelBloom (AiPPT.com) has closed a Series B2 led by the Beijing Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund (managed by Shunxi and Qiming Venture Partners), with well-known institutions and celebrity entrepreneurs following.

It is PixelBloom’s fifth round in four years. Prior backers include A-share Visual China, Starlink Capital (Zhipu Z Fund), 36Kr, Xinyuan Capital, Weimeng Media, Xintian, Ceyuan, AAMA, Sensors Data, and Xiaomi co-founder Wang Chuan. Proceeds go to global expansion, product-line extension, and AI capability.

Founded in 2018, PixelBloom is a global AI office-tool incubator aiming to build “the next-generation AI workstation for people and organizations.” Products include AiPPT.cn / AiPPT.com, iDesign AIGC content platform, 365 Editor, iDesign online design, AiH5, Readlecture.cn, Visdoc.Ai, and 10+ AI content tools. In 2023 AiPPT.cn/com launched “one sentence, one minute, one click to PPT” — #1 in China’s AiPPT vertical, #4 globally, and Top 10 among China AIGC products on PC.

AI stirs the office-software sea

Global office software is a ~¥400B+ installed market, headed toward ~¥700B in five years, dominated by Microsoft. Under generative-AI workflow shift, differentiated AI office players capturing even 0.3–0.5% globally could support an A-share-scale company — the commercial origin of PixelBloom’s model.

From design tools to AI office storm center

PixelBloom started with online design: 365 Editor (2018), then iDesign, AIGC content platform, PPT template sites, H5 editors — incubating multimodal creation tools and seeding an AI venture-studio shape. Generative AI in 2022 was the watershed: AiPPT.com rebuilt the PPT template business with four paths — (1) topic → one-click PPT; (2) upload PDF/Markdown/mind map → PPT; (3) WeChat/web URL → PPT; (4) import brand/required templates → auto beautify. It also added AI writing assistants and digital humans — shifting from tool to “creative aide / speech stand-in.”

Within three months of launch, MAU passed one million. In November 2024 global monthly visits topped 9 million — #1 China AiPPT niche, #4 world, Top 10 China AIGC PC — alongside Baidu, Alibaba, and ByteDance.

Even category leadership leaves the growth question: how to escape a narrow single-product ceiling?

Multi-category, global vision

Strategy one: expand SKUs like retail from specialty shop to supermarket — invest + incubate as an AI venture studio for an “AI office family bucket” (creation/edit, external knowledge base, RAG, content collaboration). New bets include Readlecture.cn (video→text) and Visdoc.Ai; 10+ tools for a healthier revenue mix.

Hardware too: “We want the desk, not only the desktop,” CEO Zhao Chong said — e.g., an AI voice mouse bundling PixelBloom software; hold the AI button to speak prompts. Mouse/keyboard/headset matrix ahead for a closed-loop AI office.

Path echoes a well-known overseas design unicorn: templates → acquisitions → multimodal AI → ecosystem. PixelBloom’s claimed edges: product-market sense, fast engineering, growth, content marketing, and copyright.

Strategy two: local niches → global. AiPPT.com ships 10+ languages across 180+ countries/regions.

Differentiation in a giant’s market

“Find your seat in a ¥400B market — it’s not competition so much as seeing markets others miss,” Zhao said. Differentiate product, price, marketing, and channel.

Product: office suites are heavy; AiPPT is “extreme simplicity” for non-pros — sentence → outline+PPT, or Word/PDF → PPT. Users are students and workers needing solid decks for raises/promotions — not investment-bank polish. Addressable pools cited: ~18M teachers, 46M university students, 7.8M civil servants, 30M public-institution staff, 60M SOE white-collar.

Price: ¥119/year in China vs ~$30/month overseas peers (~¥2,000/year) — Luckin vs Starbucks positioning.

Channel: API “agents” with traffic partners sharing revenue — path to 10M users in ~1 year on a lean budget.

Moat path 1: plant flags at every demand entry

  • Model makers: product partnership with Kimi; strategic tie with Zhipu Qingyan for custom base models.
  • Hardware: Lenovo / Honor — AiPPT as sole official AIPPT app for Lenovo agent Xiaotian.
  • Chips: AMD, Intel — offline-capable AiPPT.
  • Internet / vertical: Doubao, DingTalk, and People’s Daily Net AiPPT gov/enterprise edition — corpus + review for civil servants / SOEs, deployed on People’s media cloud for data security.

Moat path 2: strategic investors

B1 strategics Visual China, Starlink/Zhipu Z Fund, and 36Kr add copyright, models, and media reach. B2’s state-backed Beijing AI Industry Fund accelerates product, coverage, and ecosystem partnerships.

Investor note (Beijing AI Industry Fund): finding healthy commercialization for large models is the next AI phase; PixelBloom’s AI office wedge, shift from single product to platform, and China new-quality productivity competing globally show leadership and potential.

“Every workflow deserves to be redone with AI,” PixelBloom argues — keep investing and incubating multi-line AI office tools for global users.
