Rankings | AIGC Goes Global — Pika Traffic Surges 364%

Unique Research · Ranking / traffic insight · March 5, 2024 · Author (CN): Pu Qing

In the digital era, AI and generative computing (AIGC) are remaking how people create and consume. Unique Research’s 2023 Global AIGC Industry Annual Report reads website traffic as a proxy for popularity and market potential — and the boards still point in one direction: AIGC demand is global, and China products are showing up in the outbound rankings.

Global TOP50 — ChatGPT still half the pie

OpenAI’s ChatGPT, with its strong language model and broad use cases, accounted for 54% of monthly traffic across the global AI TOP50 — a marker of leadership and of how dependent users have become on intelligent dialogue systems. Translation sites such as DeepL and character-generation tools such as Character.AI also performed well, underscoring AI’s pull in language translation and content creation.

China domestic — Ernie Bot at scale

On Unique Research’s China survey, Baidu’s Ernie Bot (文心一言) led the domestic AI traffic TOP50 on LLM performance. Baidu has said Ernie Bot’s user base reached 100 million, with cumulative output of 3.7 billion Chinese characters of text creation — a signal both of AIGC’s content power and of domestic demand for quality AI tools. iFLYTEK Spark also stood out: the company claimed math, language understanding, and voice interaction ahead of GPT-4 Turbo on its own benchmarks, illustrating how fast domestic stacks are closing the gap.

Go-global — Pika +364%

Chinese AI products also posted notable gains in the outbound AI traffic TOP25 — especially in image generation/editing and video generation/editing. Pika stood out with a 364% lift in visit traffic, a vivid example of AIGC’s reach in visual content.

What the traffic says

Traffic boards are a window on user interest and on where the stack is heading. Popularity of image generation and editing tools shows how much users care about visual creation; high traffic for dialogue systems and personalization shows hunger for interactive, tailored experience. Applications in education, healthcare, and game development hint at sector-level change still ahead.

For investors and operators, these numbers are a live market read — not just a scoreboard. As models improve, AIGC should keep expanding into more domains; the open question is which products convert curiosity into durable habit.
